Hey you cool cats and dogs!
I’m super excited welcome you back to another week of (unique) date ideas :)
I’m hoping these things will get you excited to go out and do things with your friends and get your creative juices flowing for even better ideas; even if you aren’t interesting in anybody right now, just get out there and make some memories!
FIVE DATES FOR THIS WEEK
Egg Field Golf

Competitive · ~$5
First, buy a carton of eggs from any grocery store. Then, find an open field (Rock Canyon Park works,) anywhere with a good amount of space will do. You take turns hitting them as far as you can with a bat, a stick, or whatever solid object you've got. You can also run it more like minigolf and try not to crack your eggs. Probably bring two cartons because you will go through them faster than you’d think, and you’ll probably be having so much fun that you don’t want to stop.
How to ask: "I have a sports idea that involves eggs. I’m doing it Saturday at 6. You might get egg on you, so come prepared."
Asking For a Friend
This week one of our readers asks,
How do I know when to be bold versus leave a girl alone?
Downhill From Here

Outdoors · Free
Start by grabbing a block of ice from Smith's or any gas station for about $2, and bring a small towel. At the hill behind Rock Canyon Park you can go ice blocking. You just sit on the towel (which is on top of the ice block) and you’ll slide right down. It moves quite fast, and its pretty hard to stay balanced. Its definitely the most fun on a hot afternoon but its even more fun to bring two blocks, and race and laugh every time.
How to ask: "We're going ice blocking this afternoon. I'll get the blocks. Are you down?"
Got an Axe to Grind

Thrills · $18-30/person
There’s a place called Social Axe Throwing in Salt Lake City is about 40 minutes north. A one-hour session is $18 per person, and two hours is $30, so kind of expensive but definitely a unique idea. Walk-in lanes are sometimes open, but you should definitely book ahead to guarantee a spot. There’s a coach to walk you through the form before anyone starts, and then most people land one within the first ten throws even without experience.
How to ask: "I’m doing axe throwing in Salt Lake on Saturday. Wanna go together?"
Wednesday Night at the Market

Food · Free to walk
Just north of Provo, the Orem Sunset Farmers Market runs every Wednesday from 5 to 9pm at Orem City Center Park. About 200 vendors show up with local produce, baked goods, honey, and food trucks parked along the edges, and its free to walk, but you should budget $10 to $20 if you actually plan to eat anything.
How to ask: "The Orem farmers market is Wednesday nights. Want to come walk it with me? We can taste test a few things too."
The Hogle Zoo

Animals · $20-25/person
Hogle Zoo is about 45 minutes north in Salt Lake, and adult tickets run $20 to $25 but you can check for discounts online before going. You can (and should) plan for three to four hours just walking around the zoo. If you go on a weekday when the school groups are gone, it might be like you are the only ones there. If you want, you can end with ice cream at the cart near the front entrance.
How to ask: "We’re going to Hogle Zoo this Friday. I'll get the tickets if you’ll drive."
