Rocky Top Fruit Farm is an organically grown u-pick farm at 8648 South 6200 West in Payson, which is about 25 minutes south of campus. It opens for picking Friday 5 to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm. Their posted schedule says raspberries start in September and run until it freezes, and apples open Labor Day weekend. You pick into their containers and pay by weight on the way out. You can call (801) 465-4408 the day before to find out what’s actually ripe.
After class, say: “Weird question from someone you’ve had literally one class with, but there’s a u-pick farm in Payson, apples open Saturday. I’ve got the morning free. Wanna go as a date?”

The best line from Rejection Proof is: ”The fear of rejection is far worse than rejection itself, because it stops us from trying things.” So next time you have an empty Saturday, you should stop letting the fear of a “no” stop you from having a great experience.

An Hour in a Room Full of Cats
Cat cafe · $24 for two
Tinker’s Cat Cafe at 302 East 900 South in Salt Lake City is a cat lounge with a cafe attached, and every cat in the room is up for adoption through the county shelter. It’s $12 an hour each, so $24 for the two of you, booked in hourly slots through their reservation system. They’re open Tuesday to Thursday 10 to 6, Friday and Saturday 10 to 7, Sunday 11 to 6, and closed Mondays.
Since you have to make a reservation, this is one of those dates that I would double check they can still come the day before or morning of.
When you see them in person, say: “This is out of nowhere, I know, but there’s a cat lounge in Salt Lake I want to go to Friday. Wanna be my date?”

Payson has thrown Golden Onion Days every Labor Day weekend since 1929, back when it was called the Onion Harvest and Homecoming. This year it runs September 3 to 7, and the city opens it with a free concert Thursday the 3rd at 6pm at the Peteetneet Amphitheater, headlined by Aaron Watson. The rest of the weekend is a carnival, a car show, a grand parade, fireworks, and a 5K and 10K, so if Thursday doesn’t work there’s plenty of other stuff you could do.
The onion festival is the ask. Don’t worry too much about it being too simple or weird, just say the words “onion festival” and let them do the work, because there’s no way that doesn’t sound cool—right?
Call them and try saying: “Okay, this is going to sound made up. Payson throws a festival for onions and there’s a free concert Thursday. I’m driving down after work to check it out. Wanna go as a date?”
It’s right at the beginning of the semester, which is the main time this sounds normal:
